Country Risk Assessment Equatorial Guinea: Grinaker-LTA

Grinaker-LTA, a South African construction and engineering company and a subsidiary of The Aveng Group, was considering investments in projects in Equatorial Guinea and asked Erinys for guidance on whether they should invest in the country and, if so, how they should carry out and protect those investments.

The Erinys research and analysis team based at the African Regional Office in Johannesburg provided a broad analysis to identify the risks and opportunities present in the territory.

As part of the study, Erinys identified a range of opportunities specific to the client’s portfolio, but advised that Grinaker-LTA should not establish a presence in the country partly due to the lack of reliable legal structures but should rather seek to manage the investment from offshore or though links with existing foreign companies.
